University Park is a city located in the Dallas County, Texas. University Park began as a cluster of homes surrounding the Southern Methodist University, which was found in the year 1915. They provided utilities for the school until the population grew and they can no longer do so. In April 1924, University Park has won the vote 5 to 1 and became its own city. As a result of building and improving the city, the population increased to over 20,000 by 1945 and remained stable in the 22,000 throughout the years. In the year 2000, University Park has a population of 23,324 with 8,005 households. Dallas, Texas is made up of mostly Caucasian Americans, which takes up 94% of the population. University Park is located right next to Highland Park; together they make up the Park Cities of Dallas. The city has a total area of 3.75 sq. miles with 0.04 sq. miles being water. Dallas has an equal amount of rainfall every month throughout the year, which range from 3-4 inches. Although the rainfall isn’t big, it may cause flooding in some areas. It’s better to treat water damage early then to find yourself in a big mess where it’s too severe to save anything. It’s very important to be cautious around water leakage. If you see a leakage anywhere, be sure to turn off all the electricity and gas as they don’t go very well with water. Move as much stuff as you can to another location where it’s not affected by water after you have moved all the stuff, air out the damaged. If you are covered under insurance then be sure to take a lot of pictures of the affected area so you can show the insurance company. There are many companies that you can call to help you with the water damage. Most of the companies are listed under the Fire and Water Restoration section. There are three categories for water. Category 1 is known as “Clean Water” usually seen if broken out of water supply lines. You can find clean water in sinks and showers. Category 2 is, known as “Grey Water”, the water source that contains a good amount of chemical, biological, or physical contamination to the human being. When Category 2 water is in contact with humans, it may cause sickness and discomfort. Some examples are toilet bowls with urine, sump pump failures, and discharge from dishwashers and washing machines. Category 3 is known as “Black Water” which is extremely unsanitary. The black water contains harmful bacteria and fungi that can really make humans very sick. It’s usually found in poor environment such as sewage and seawater.
